    Weight Mistake

I weighed myself three times on that scale the other day, because I didn't believe what it said. I even checked to make sure it was set to zero properly before I stepped on it, and it still said I had lost 30 pounds in two weeks. I weighed myself again today, just to make sure, and the scale reads a little more sensibly now.

Whereas it said I was 157 a couple of days ago, it now says I weigh 176. Maybe I was standing on it wrong, or a corner of the scale was propped on the bathroom rug that I hadn't noticed? I'll have no way of knowing what happened really, but the numbers are more reasonable, and I triple checked everything again, making sure everything was as it should be before I re-weighed, so I know this number is correct. *smile*

    What a weird ride. So the weight report should have read like this;

    Starting weight (August 2007): 245lbs
    Last Week's Weight: 187lbs
    Current Weight: 176lbs
    Weekly Loss: 11lbs
    Total loss to date: 69lbs
    Weight Goal: 135
    Pounds to Loose: 41

I knew there was something not quite right about that last weigh-in. *boggle* Oh well, now all is set to rights, and what I said about the water weight still applies. Even just 11lbs is pretty extreme a loss. What probably happened was that I gained a few pounds of water weight last week, then lost the water as well as the real weight that I lost; showing this week, the losses of both last week and this week more accurately. Since I average about 7lbs a week, that's likely a relatively accurate representation of what happened.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing. *wink*

Can you please reshare how you are losing 7 pounds a week? I need to loose a lot of weight and you are doing really well!

I'm glad you figured that out.
    It did seem extreme.
I'm hoping you caught up on your sleep last night and today.

Yeah, that does sound a lot more reasonable. Thought that 30 pounds a week wasn't healthy, but 11 pounds is okay, I guess. I know not much about it. *grin*

30 lbs a week is deadly, and I should have felt really bad. It's one of the reasons I rechecked again. I was a bit worried.

According to the doctors, 1-2lbs a week loss is healthy, but anything over that should be overseen by a physician. Drastic and fast weight loss is just as likely to cause a heart attack as the same amount/speed of weight gain, so one has to be really careful.

The only reason I'm not worried about myself (but I'm still being careful), is that I'm not doing anything drastic to get the weight loss, just drinking juices, having water nearby, not eating anything that's been microwaved, eating breakfast every day, and getting enough sleep. It really works wonders. *smile*

Now If I were starving myself, working out a lot, or other drastic changes, I could be in for a lot of trouble, but I'm eating well, not changing my physical activity level much if at all, and just eating whole foods instead of processed or artificial stuff.

The only reason I'm not worried about the 11lbs is that I had so much water gain last week. Otherwise, I'd be concerned about that as well.

Cool. Sound like you're doing it right then.
