    World's Tallest Living Horse

Today we went to Bolivar to see the world's tallest living horse, Radar. It was a fun trip, the girls had a blast, and we even got free bratwurst out of the deal. *grin* On the way back home, we dropped by a friend's house to catch up on the news and see how he & his family were doing. Found out we hadn't seen him in almost 2 years! Boy the time does fly. It was really good to see him again, and he was glad to know he still held a firm place in our hearts. He also enjoyed meeting the rest of my newly acquired (to him anyway) family. Not too bad for a quarter tank of gas. Here is a photo of the kids standing 3 feet from Radar, leaning on the people-restraining fence. On our way out to the car we heard a little girl tell her grandma how big the horse was. "He was big big big big big big big big big!" she said. That's a LOT of big! *giggle*

When we arrived home, Keebler convinced Ladybug to forgo her teen knitting club so that I could get a nap. They are so good to me (most times). *smile* We tried to get to the potluck tonight, but we were an hour late leaving the house, and by the time we got there, the place was closed. We dropped some of our fruit & nut salad we made off at the bar, and it was declared a delicacy. Pretty good review for something I just tossed together in two minutes in the kitchen as we ran out the door. *laugh*

Radar is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's tallest living horse. He is a Belgian Draft Horse that stands 19 hands 3.5 inches (6'7.5" at the withers) and weighs over 2,400lbs. He is a gelding born in 1998 and eats 18lbs of grain, 40lbs of hay, and drinks 20 gallons of water each day. Watch out, he bites.

Here's a video of him licking a fan and wandering around somewhat bored. (Only somewhat because he was loving all the attention) Video is a bit shaky because I had tried to steady the camera on the bars of the restraining fence, which people were leaning on. Bad idea. :P

Update: There is an error message at the beginning of the video, but after that, it should play nicely.
