Yesterday I picked up my daughter on the side of the road.
Chance meeting.
We went shopping.
She gave me gifts.
It was odd.
Unexpected.

Living away from one's children,
our only contact, the internet.
I have no telephone.

Such a strange and separate parenthood.
I do my best to guide her from afar.
And try to convince her to go back to school.

She's almost 17 now.
Still dating the boy she fell for at 14.

Life can be odd sometimes.
