    The Scales of Accuracy

I finally broke down and bought a new scale last week. Not that I had the money, really, but it needed to be done.

I had a choice of one that was sure to work that looked really frumpy, or one that was exceedingly classy and goes with my intended home decor for a couple of dollars more. Usually I'd just hide the frumpy one, but this is one of those reward things, and I wanted it out as a reminder of my progress so far, and how proud I am that I've come so far on my weight shedding journey.

You can't tell by the photo, but it is tempered glass and the stand has a brushed brass finish. It's a LOT prettier in person.

I smile every time I see or think about my scale now, and that's a very positive thing. *smile*

Before I tossed out my old, terribly inaccurate scale (remember when my lying scale said I was 135lbs?), I weighed myself on both it and my new scale.

I had no clue how inaccurate that old dial scale was... My new scale weighed me at 204lbs, while my old scale weighed me at close to 130. That's a misreading of over 70lbs!

    So what once read

    Starting weight (August 2007): 245lbs
    Last Week's Weight: 153lbs
    Current Weight: 145lbs
    Shed Weight: 8lbs
    Total drop to date: 100lbs
    Weight Goal: 135
    Pounds to Loose: 10

    should have read

    Starting weight (August 2007): 319lbs
    Last Week's Weight: 227lbs
    Current Weight: 219lbs
    Shed Weight: 8lbs
    Total drop to date: 100lbs
    Weight Goal: 135
    Pounds to Loose: 84

    That's a lot of difference, isn't it?

I still have a long way to go, but with less obstacles in my way, and more time and money to do what I need to do for myself and the girls, I'm back on track, and returning to my stated weight shedding goals.

A bunch of other folks in the community are in on it with me this time, in one of our local Yahoo groups, and I hope that my experiences with acai berry juice and other healthful practices that feel nothing like a diet and exercise regimen, will in turn help them to drop their stubborn weight as well!

It is my second-fondest hope, however, that their rapid and continuing success will lead them to refer folks to me as a health and weight-loss consultant, and maybe even to come to me themselves in order to get my full, individually-customized plan to shed their own weight most efficiently.

Just for effect, here is the "before" picture, taken back in August of 2007, before this journey began.
It's blurry, but it gets the idea across of how far I've come quite nicely.

Well, I'll be starting up the weekly weight reports again now that I have a new scale, so I'll see you for the next report, next week sometime.
