    The Hunt

So I admit that I don't get on hands and knees and scrub grout as often as I "should", and that the kids really need to learn to hang their towels after use instead of dropping them onto the floor. I also admit that we have a very slow water leak near the toilet that makes the perfect environment for crawlies like water bugs.

Water bugs rate right down there with roaches for me, and until I saw this, house centipedes weren't very far above them. (at least they were interesting to look at).

In the middle of the night the other day, I got up to use the facilities, when I saw this horrid water bug waiting on the bathroom floor next to the toilet. I was in a bit of a rush, so I propped my leg on the bathtub and commenced to business, praying that the disgusting thing would stay put until I was done and until I could find a shoe for the squashing.

I was dreading cleaning up the mangled, crumpled body parts and guts of squashed repulsobug when I noticed my savior, my knight in shining armor, who was lurking nearby to relieve my worries altogether.

Not only did I not have to squash the nasty thing, but I also wasn't going to have to clean it's gooeys up off the floor with a tissue-bit. Lovely, darling house centipede was hunting. Hunting a big tasty water bug for his dinner, and there was to be no icky squish or clean-up for me to endure that night.

Oh joy, and all give hail to my sweet protector and saver of icky jobs, the house centipede!

Only one survived. The predator, eater of roach-like nasties. House centipede.
